Myojo Noodle God - Shinta Noodle x Miso Cup Review

This Shinta Noodle x Miso noodle cup is part of the Myojo Noodle God line of instant noodle cups.  The Noodle God line of noodle cups have extra-thick noodles and flavourful "sacred" soups that are supposed to remind you more of ramen from an actual restaurant. This miso cup is the second release in this lineup and the first release was a shoyu ramen cup.

I found a few of these at T&T supermarket and grabbed a couple as they were not regularly stocked products.  This ramen has a miso / tonkotsu soup base that is a little more viscous so it clings to the noodles to give them better flavour.  These noodles have a description on the front that translated roughly like "a sacred cup noodle that goes beyond the common senses."  This is a pretty big claim.

The front of the cup has big bold white characters indicating it is Noodle God (麺神) cup on a rich red background with a ramen bowl logo behind it that looks like a family crest.  I like this design!  Golden diamonds frame the Noodle God logo and a nice looking miso ramen is shown below that highlights the thicker noodles.
There is a little essay on the lid of the noodle cup.  It roughly translates as "Miso soup with the rich flavor of mountain herbs and vegetables.  It is thick and enjoy a cup of the god of the shop."

Ingredients, allergens, and manufacturers information.  Another little description at the top "Since its founding, Minatsukai products, which have continued to refine their noodle-making technology, have developed noodles that go beyond the common middle ground noodles and are particular about the texture of the noodles, focusing on true shop quality.  Please enjoy a sacred cup that cannot be tasted with conventional instant noodles."

Nutritional information detail.  Lower on fat than a regular cup noodle.

The special flavour oil packet that adds to the aroma and umami of the soup.  This is the Drop of God!

The inside of the noodle cup.  You can see the thicker noodles, little bits of green onion and ground pork cubes.

I added boiling water to the cup up to the fill line, closed the lid, and waited for three minutes for the noodles to rehydrate.  The soup had a very mild aroma with a bit of a savoury note that was from the earthy miso.  The soup is made up of a balanced combination of red and white miso along with pork bones and fat.  It is also supposed to have garlic and ginger notes to it.  This sounds really good, but the soup tasted a bit flat to me.  I then added the flavouring oil which had a very herbal aroma that included sansho or Japanese pepper leaves.  The oil kicked up the soup a notch, but the overall taste of the soup was still pretty mild.  The miso and saltiness of the soup kicked in a little more as I ate the noodles, but this broth didn't have a knock your socks off kind of impact.  The noodles were actually a highlight as they are broad noodles that are probably like twice as wide as a regular instant noodle.  They had a nice chew with good firmness and elasticity.  I tried both noodle cups I bought before I wrote this and my impression is pretty much the same from either time.  This was a good noodle cup, not God level, and I probably wouldn't get a third one - although I'd definitely try another flavour!
