Hong Kong Nissin Big Cup Noodle Seafood Curry Review

Nissin Hong Kong produces a Seafood Curry Big Cup Noodle that you can find in Canadian Asian supermarkets (you might need to look around).  I like Japanese curry cup noodles, in particular the Curry Cup Noodle by Nissin, which is something you cannot get overseas easily.  This curry cup noodle from Hong Kong has a different curry roux, which is to be expected, as it tailored towards Hong Kong tastes.  A Hong Kong style curry is usually a little less thick than the Japanese version and it does taste different, but it is still a pretty good curry with a seafood base.
Three quarter view of the seafood curry cup.  You can see that it is a nice bright orange to let you pick it out on a shelf easily.  Orange = curry.  Why not!

The lid of the ramen cup.  You can see it boldly indicates it is a seafood curry in the highlighted yellow area.  It is quite an attractive color scheme that actually blends nicely with the image of the ramen toppings.  The ramen toppings look pretty good with big pieces of seafood shown.

Front side of the noodle cup.  Sure looks like a tasty seafood cup noodle.  Of course you know it is a BIG cup noodle from the big bold letters with a yellow outline.

Nutrition facts.  About average for salt and fat for a big cup noodle.

Ingredients and cooking directions.

Peeling the lid back shows a lot of toppings.  This is always nice to see.

You can see the curry powder, green onion, dehydrated egg, carrot, octopus, cuttlefish, and cabbage.

Preparation fro this cup noodle is pretty standard.  Add boiling water, wait three minutes, stir thoroughly, and slurp!

The rehydrated noodles and toppings.  It looks like there is a good amount.  Always nice to see in a cup noodle.

After waiting three minutes, I peeled the lid off and it revealed a tasty looking cup noodle.  There was a good aroma of seafood and curry coming from the cup.  If you like both of these, you will probably like this cup of noodle.  A sip of the broth indicated it had a nice curry flavour in a regular broth (not thick), with seafood undertones from the seafood powder mix they use.  The noodles rehydrated nicely with a good chew and were the normal cup noodle noodles.  There were some nice big pieces of seafood in the soup and they rehydrated well too, so they were chewy, but not rubbery.  All in all, this is a pretty good cup noodle and I'd pick up a couple next time I see them at the market.
