Nissin Grilled Chicken Instant Ramen

I was pretty excited to find this variant of Nissin Chikin (Chicken) Ramen at the Asian supermarket.  This Grilled Chicken instant ramen is actually not a soup noodle, but more of a yakisoba / fried noodle when it is done.  It was actually fairly hard to miss a black and white striped package of five instant noodle packs on the shelf, especially with bright yellow lettering.  These are like a summer item and I just finished the last package, so I'm glad they have a long shelf life.  I think this is the second or third year they have done a variant like this where you don't have to slurp hot soup for the hot months.
They came in this bag of 5 packages of ramen.  It is quite an eye catching bag with the thin black and white stripes.
The top of the package shows a frying pan / shallow pot where you cook the noodles in boiling water.

You get a disk shaped block of chicken ramen and a satchet of furukake sprinkles inside the package. This is not your typical Chicken Ramen block as I think the seasoning baked onto it was not as dark as the regular and there was no divot in the middle to drop an egg into.
I boiled some water in a pan and then added the noodle block.  It takes three minutes for the noodles to be rehydrated.  You use exactly 230 ml of water to cook the noodles so that all of the water is absorbed.
The rehydrated noodles.  You have to stir the noodles and help the block break down - doesn't hurt to flip the block after the first minute so that the other side also absorbs water for a bit.  Almost all of the water is gone when it is done, making it similar to a pan fried noodle.
This is a roasted soy / grilled chicken seasoned instant ramen with a gentle aroma.  It isn't a strongly flavoured instant noodle, but it makes for an easy meal.  I then sprinkled the satchet of bonito shavings, seaweed, and dried egg on top to finish up.  The noodles had a nice chew, pretty much the same as the regular chicken ramen, but with the advantage that they won't suck up extra water as there isn't any.  This is a tasty change to these noodles, having them yakisoba style, but I wish they had a double sized packet of furukake to sprinkle on top as I felt it could have use more.

For my last package, I added some leftover roast chicken and green onion and it was really tasty!
