Giant Godzilla Head and Where to Find Other Godzilla Statues - Tokyo Intro: Experience #14 of 55

A life-sized Godzilla head now towers over Shinjuku at the Hotel Gracery.  This is not a small statue as it is a 1:1 scale replica that is 12 metres high, so it is big on the top of the building, and even bigger when you are looking at it up close.  Guests of the hotel or customers of the bar can walk out onto the terrace and have their picture taken with the massive head high above Tokyo.  The lobby of the hotel has a nice display of Godzilla posters and there is usually a two meter tall Godzilla on display.  The hotel also offers two Godzilla themed hotel rooms (e-mail the hotel, booking is in Japanese only).  The giant head breathes smoke and the eyes light up several times in the evening.

The head is way up high here at the Hotel Gracery.

Front view of the new Godzilla statue at Hibiya Square.  This is about as close as you can get as it is mounted above the entrance to a parkade and raised above the ground.

    • There is also a small but well-stocked Godzilla Store in the OIOI Marui Annex Shinjuku which is some distance away on foot, but well within walking distance to the south.  There is also a Seria 100 yen store in this mall.
    • The original bronze statue of Godzilla that stood in Hibiya Chanter Square is now at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya Cinemas (4th floor).  This statue is about a meter high, but it was the Godzilla statue to see for years.
    • A new 3 meter high statue of Shin Godzilla from the 2016 movie is displayed in the Hibiya Godzilla Square in front of the Hibiya Chanter building, Yurakucho, where the original statue used to stand.
