The New Lucky Supermarket Opened on Calgary Trail, Edmonton
I found plenty of Japanese products at Lucky. |
More interesting products including Japanese meal replacement/energy bars and toast spreads in a tube for peanut butter, garlic toast, and mentaiko. |
With the addition of Lucky, there is a roughly one kilometre stretch of Calgary Trail that is crowded with supermarkets for grocery shopping. Walmart marks the north end, then Bulk Barn, followed by H-Mart, then T & T, across 34th Avenue to Save On Foods, and then Lucky Supermarket at the south end. I find it remarkable you have a Korean Supermarket in H-Mart, and then a couple of Chinese/SE Asian supermarkets in T & T and Lucky. These are not small markets either, so you will be able to find a huge variety of groceries of all types.
Tasty Midori Ramen |
All the Asian supermarkets also have food kiosks + dining areas and I'm going to be trying out Lucky in the future since they just opened. You can get Chinese BBQ at T & T and Lucky, and all types of Korean food at H-Mart. I really like the Korean Fried Chicken (regular, boneless) at H-Mart too. Not only that you have a number of different restaurants in the area so there is a distinct Asian flair to the area.
For Asian restaurants you have:
Japanese Village restaurant
Xingfutang bubble tea
Jollibee for Filipino food
Machi Machi bubble tea
Beijing Beijing for Chinese Food/Dim Sum
Nomiya for Japanese food
Midori for Chicken Paitan Ramen (really good)
Macao Imperial Tea
Pho Thanh for Vietnamese
Noodle Feast - northern Chinese noodles
852 Hong Kong Cafe
Tasty Noodle restaurant and dim sum
Menjiro Ramen for Tonkotsu/Shoyu Ramen (quite good)
Coco Bubble Tea
Tasty Choice Cafe
Dookbaeki Korean Restaurant
Baekjeong Korean BBQ House
A little further east on 99 Street you also have Hanjan for Korean food and Izakaya Tomo
I probably even missed a few cafes or bubble tea places too. You can definitely get a taste of Asia in the area and probably spend an afternoon looking through all these places and eating if you wanted to!
