MUJI Flagship Store - Tokyo Intro: Experience #24 of 55

MUJI is a company that makes clothes and household products that have a Japanese minimalist design philosophy while ensuring the products are high quality and practical.  It also gets called the Japanese IKEA and it is a lifestyle brand.  There is an international fan following and the company has expanded overseas like UNIQLO with stores in many major North American cities.  The flagship MUJI store is still worth visiting for the experience and there are food and other products that do not make it out of Japan.

A brand new MUJI Flagship store opened in Ginza during 2019, replacing the older one in Yurakucho.  This new store combines 6 floors of shopping along with a MUJI Hotel above it.  This is a big MUJI store and it really showcases the company and its goods at their best.  The hotel uses MUJI products such as their furniture and housewares in their rooms.  Inside the store are an organic vegetable market with seasonal vegetables, a very nice bakery, a MUJI Diner in the basement, a tea blending shop, an art gallery and bar, and even a freshly packed bento box station.

If you are into MUJI, it is tempting to stay in the hotel here as it is a mid-range hotel in price, and have a MUJI experience every day.  At a minimum it could be MUJI in the morning and evening when you come back from a day of sightseeing.

Muji retort pouch food.

They sell an extensive assortment of clothes, luggage, housewares, bicycles, stationary, books, fresh fruit and vegetables, and also have a great packaged food section.  Try their freeze dried strawberries covered in green tea chocolate, their rice crackers, or their retort pouch curries.
