A pedestrian paradise in Tokyo occurs when they close down the main road in a district open it up for pedestrians only.  These events are allow people freely walk wherever they want to see the sights and promotional events.  Everyone enjoys walking down the middle of a big road with a thousand other people.

Three of the major pedestrian paradises occur on weekends in the following districts:
  • Akihabara’s Chuo Dori road on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM (6 PM in the summer).
  • Ginza’s Ginza Dori road on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM (6 PM in the summer).
  • Shinjuku’s 3-chome area on the east side of the station on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM (6 PM in the summer).
