Toy Stores - Tokyo Intro: Experience #49 of 55

Tokyo has some fantastic toy stores that have a wide range of merchandise which can appeal to all age groups.  They don't just carry toys and there will be a wide range of personal accessories and interesing souvenirs.  Two of the better known stores are Kiddyland and Yamashiroya.
  • Kiddyland is six floors of toys located on Jingumei in Omotesando.  You have Peanuts, Hello Kitty, Totoro, Pokemon, and a huge selection of other toys and brand names.  A well organized and stocked store where you are bound to find something you want.  Everything from stuffed animals, character pens and other goods, to games and figures are here.
  • Yamashiroya is near the main Ueno Station south exit.  You come out, head east under the train tracks and it is just there on the other side.  It occupies the most of a small building with six floors of toys, figures, model kits, character goods, stuffies, and games. The store is packed with glass cabinets displaying an amazing assortment of toys and you can find something for any anime or Japanese toy brand in the store. This makes the store crowded, but a wonderful place to browse and shop.
  • Large stores like Yodobashi Camera (in particular the Akihabara flagship store) and Bic Camera also have large toy floors.  Toys R Us is an interesting visit too if you happen to be near one (e.g. Odaiba).
