Once again, I walked into a display of these instant noodles at the supermarket in November. Funny thing is that I think I saw these last year at about the same time. These Yamadai New Touch Summer Fukubako Ramen Boxes have been available in limited quantities two years in a row. I hope it continues as it is a remarkably good value for imported Japanese noodles at $20 a box for 6 deluxe noodle bowls. Last year I bought the Western Japan version, so this year I picked up the Eastern Japan version. There really isn't a reason to stop you from buying both other than the best before dates which are set about a month later - I guess it takes awhile to get here on the boat and then in the distribution system. I only get one box as I can only eat about six of these in a month as they aren't only noodles I have on hand. You can see the review of the West Japan box here.
This time the lucky boxes didn't have a gift other than a nifty pack of soup flavour enhancers. I'll get more into that later. Lets have a look at the six kinds of instant noodles I picked up in the box now.

Yamadai is an instant noodle company that has been around for decades and I tried their products for the first time last year. New Touch is the brand that has these "Amazing Noodles" that are air dried, not fried, and they specialize in regional types of Japanese Ramen. I think they have around twenty types and these East and West Japan boxes showcased a dozen different types of these ramen.
Their website is here for the full selection. I enjoyed their noodles a great deal last year and am looking forward to reviewing a different selection from them.
The six kinds of noodles are:
- Yamagata Tori Chuka
- Shinshu Miso Ramen
- Niigata Back Fat Soy Sauce
- Yokohama Tonkotsu House
- Sapporo Rich Miso Ramen
- Chiba Takeoka Ramen
Not as many tonkotsu ramen in this box, but a nice assortment that includes a few shoyu and miso ramen. Should be tasty.

The design of the boxes is very similar to last year. Even in the same purple and blue colours. There are supposed to be lucky tickets, but the export versions don't have tickets. I'm just happy to have the noodles! |

It stays with the lucky cat and a pile of rice bales and gold representing good fortune for the summer lucky box theme. Lots of fireworks too. |

The noodles are packed into the box pretty tightly in two columns of three. |

The bowls are quite attractive and when you see these on store shelves, the tops of the bowls face out. |

The flavour booster bonus package. It includes fragrant chicken oil, red ginger, grated garlic, yuzu pepper powder, Garlic spicy sauce, and lemon pepper. There is a chart on the website that shows which of these flavour boosters to use with each kind of ramen. There are multiple possibilities for each one.

The package of flavour boosters next to a bowl of ramen. Each individual satchet is quite small, just like what you would find on a cup of noodle. |
